Description
Bring High Pool pH Back Into Balance
Maintain Pool Pro pH Minus is a concentrated granular water balancer designed to lower excessive pH in swimming pool water.
When pool pH rises above the recommended range, chlorine may become less effective and the water can become cloudy or uncomfortable. High pH can also encourage calcium scale to form on pool surfaces, plumbing, heaters, salt cells, and other equipment. pH Minus helps restore the water to the recommended 7.2–7.6 pH range, allowing the sanitizer and filtration system to perform more effectively.
The dry granular formula offers a convenient alternative to liquid muriatic acid. It dissolves quickly and can be applied directly to the deepest part of the pool while the circulation system is operating.
Features and Benefits
- Lowers high pool pH: Helps restore water to the recommended 7.2–7.6 range.
- Reduces total alkalinity: Useful when alkalinity and pH are both above their recommended levels.
- Improves sanitizer performance: Proper pH allows chlorine and other sanitizers to work more effectively.
- Helps prevent scale: Reduces the conditions that encourage calcium deposits on pool surfaces and equipment.
- Supports clearer water: Properly balanced pH helps reduce cloudiness associated with high-pH conditions.
- Fast-dissolving granules: Easy to measure and distribute through the pool.
- Convenient dry formula: Easier to transport, store, and measure than liquid acid.
- Saltwater compatible: Suitable for pools using salt chlorine generators.
- Multiple package sizes: Available in 5-pound and 10-pound bags.
Recommended For
Pool pH Minus is recommended for:
- Swimming pools with pH readings above 7.6
- Water with high total alkalinity
- Cloudy water caused by poor water balance
- Pools experiencing calcium scale formation
- Reduced chlorine or sanitizer performance
- Saltwater swimming pools
- Inground and above-ground pools
- Vinyl-liner, fiberglass, and plaster pool surfaces
- Routine water-balance maintenance
Why Proper Pool pH Matters
The pH level measures how acidic or alkaline the pool water is. A properly maintained pH level helps protect swimmers, pool finishes, and equipment while allowing chlorine to sanitize effectively.
When pH is too high, customers may experience:
- Cloudy or dull-looking water
- Calcium scale around the waterline
- Scale accumulation inside heaters and salt cells
- Reduced chlorine effectiveness
- Eye or skin discomfort
- Difficulty maintaining balanced water
The Nature’s Pure water-care program recommends maintaining pool pH between 7.2 and 7.6 and total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm.
How It Works
Maintain Pool Pro pH Minus contains more than 90% sodium bisulfate, also known as dry acid. When added to pool water, sodium bisulfate lowers pH and can also reduce total alkalinity. The granular formula provides a controlled way to make gradual water-balance adjustments without handling liquid muriatic acid.
Because alkalinity affects the stability of the pool’s pH, total alkalinity should normally be checked and corrected before making the final pH adjustment.
Directions for Use
- Test the pool’s pH and total alkalinity.
- Adjust total alkalinity first when both readings are outside their recommended ranges.
- Determine the required amount using the dosage chart on the current product package.
- Make sure the circulation pump is operating.
- Apply the product directly to the deepest part of the pool.
- Avoid adding the product through the skimmer.
- Brush away any granules that settle on the pool floor.
- Allow the water to circulate thoroughly.
- Retest the water before adding another dose.
- Repeat in small increments until the pH reaches the desired range.
When to Use Pool pH Minus
Use this product when:
- A water test shows pH above 7.6
- Total alkalinity is above the recommended range
- The water appears cloudy despite proper filtration
- Calcium deposits begin forming around the waterline
- Scale is visible on pool surfaces or equipment
- A saltwater pool develops scale on the chlorine generator cell
- Chlorine is present but is not performing efficiently
- Water balance changes after heavy rainfall, chemical treatment, or adding fresh water
This product should be used only after testing the water. It is not intended to be added on a fixed weekly schedule unless water-test results show that an adjustment is needed.
